Synopsis
The "Battle of the Banks" i3 webinar brought together a panel of international experts to explore the shifting dynamics of global egg banking. Framed around the central theme of cross-border collaboration and adaptation, the session examined how diverse regions are approaching the complex terrain of donor egg services. Moderated by Skye Green from Vitalab Egg Donation Agency, Dr. Yannis Panagiotidis of Iakentro IVF Clinics, and Rafael Gonzalez Morales with Jullin Fjeldstad from Future Fertility, the conversation offered a deep dive into both clinical and business aspects of egg donation.
Dr. Deanna Guidozzi of VEDA opened the discussion with his talk "Eggceptional Choices: Cracking the Code of Egg Donor Screening", focusing on the detailed screening protocols required to ensure quality and safety in donor selection. His insights underscored the importance of balancing rigorous medical standards with a human-centered approach to donor care.
Next, Dr. Natalia Basile from WeFIV and WeBank presented "What to Expect When You're Expecting.........Donor Eggs?", a session centered on technology and quality and logistical expectations among recipients, emphasizing the growing need for transparency and support throughout the donor egg journey.
Dr. Peter Fuzesi of Asian Egg Bank followed with "The Global Market & Marketing an Egg Bank", offering a business-oriented view of the egg banking landscape. He addressed competitive positioning, branding strategies, and the influence of regional demographics, all within the context of a fast-globalizing reproductive health market.
Throughout the session, recurring themes included regulatory complexity, the critical role of secure handling and compliance, and how egg banks are adjusting their models to better serve an increasingly diverse and international patient base. The closing Q&A segment with Dr. Yossi Unterslak adding more international insight allowed participants to engage directly with the speakers, fostering a rich exchange of practical insights.
Altogether, the webinar painted a nuanced picture of an industry in transformation, emphasizing innovation, adaptability, and the importance of patient-centered practices in shaping the future of egg banking.
