Professor Eli Y. Adashi


Eli Y. Adashi, MD, MS, CPE, FACOG: The former (5th) Dean of Medicine @ Biological Sciences at Brown University, Dr. Adashi, is a graduate of Tel Aviv University School of Medicine and of the Harvard School of Public Health. A former president of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinologists, the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, and the American Gynecological & Obstetrical Society, Dr. Adashi also served as Examiner & Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. A member of the National Academy of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, the Association of American Physicians, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the New York Academy of Sciences, Dr. Adashi is also a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (ad eundem), and the Hastings Center. The recipient of several honorary degrees, Dr. Adashi is also an Honorary Member of the European Society of Human Reproduction & Embryology and of the International Federation of Fertility Societies.

Dr. Serena Chen

Serena H. Chen MD serves as Director of Reproductive Medicine at the Saint Barnabas Medical Center, and IRMS, the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science in New Jersey, and Clinical Associate Professor at both Rutgers Medical Schools.  Dr Chen feels privileged to be trusted with the reproductive health of people in so many different situations and is dedicated to improving access to reproductive care by breaking down barriers to care and raising public awareness.  She is amazed and grateful every day at the explosion in reproductive technology that is happening today, but feels that physicians and scientists must advocate for better support for providers and patients that continue to be the biggest barrier between the promise of these new technologies and their actual delivery. 

Dr. Pavlo Mazur

Pavlo Mazur earned his bachelor degree in Virology in 2009 and master degree in Genetics in 2011 from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. He started his career immediately after graduating in 2011 as a trainee embryologist in Clinic of Reproductive Medicine ‘Nadiya’. At the beginning of the next year he started to work with new on market time-lapse incubator and successfully tested one-step culture medium for that purpose. Since then, time-lapse embryo culture was his one of the main interests, as well as the possibility of using the artificial intelligence for embryo grading. In late 2015 he developed a reliable protocol for pronuclear transplantation in human embryos. First embryo transfer of reconstituted embryo was successfully made in April 2016 and healthy baby was born on 5th of January 2017

Dr. Nuno Costa-Borges

Nuno Costa-Borges is an embryologist that has been involved in both research and clinical practice for over 18 years. As a PhD fellow of the Portuguese national funding agency for science (FCT), Nuno spent several years developing strategies to improve the efficiency of
animal cloning, having accomplished the first animals successfully cloned in Spain in 2009.
After finishing his PhD at the University Autonomous of Barcelona, he joined the embryology team of IVI Barcelona, where he has worked as a clinical embryologist. Later on, he co-founded Embryotools, where he has been devoted on offering QC tests, training and consulting services to the IVF community worldwide. Additionally, as scientific director of Embryotools, Nuno has also been committed to the development of new IVF techniques, such as, the flicking method for the biopsy of blastocysts or the maternal spindle transfer technique to prevent the transmission of mitochondrial diseases or to treat infertility problems related to poor oocyte quality as alternatives to conventional oocyte donation programs. Nuno’s work has led to several peer-reviewed publications and he has been invited speaker in numerous international conferences and scientific meetings, as well as, awarded with prestigious prizes and grants. Stands out two recent awards, the congress Paper Prize of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) in 2017 and the IVI foundation award
in 2019. He has produced the embryos that resulted in the world’s first baby after maternal spindle transfer for infertility.

Dr. Jacques Cohen

Jacques Cohen is a reproductive biologist, laboratory product developer and high complexity laboratory director (HCLD). He is director and founder of the ART Institute of Washington, which runs the joint National Institute of Health and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center IVF program in Bethesda Maryland (USA). He is product developer and co-founder of IVFqc/Althea Science, which develops software solutions for laboratories and clinics. He was co-founder of Reprogenetics, a PGD service, now continuing as Cooper Genomics. He was a co-founder and product developer of Life-Global/IVF-Online. He has (co-)authored more than 300 publications, several textbooks and 12 patents. He is Emeritus Chief Editor of Reproductive Biomedicine Online. He was one of the founders of Alpha – Scientists in Reproductive Medicine and one of the founders of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis International Society - PGDIS. He is a founding member of the International IVF Initiative.
Jacques Cohen was born in The Hague, The Netherlands and graduated in Biology of Reproductive Science in 1978 at Leiden University, Leiden, The Netherlands. He has a Ph.D. from Erasmus University in Rotterdam (supervisor Prof. Gerard Zeilmaker), in aspects of in vitro fertilization and male factor infertility. His postdoctoral studies (1982-1985) were performed at Cambridge University (UK) and Bourn Hall Clinic (supervisor Prof Robert Edwards). Jacques Cohen has (co-)developed a number of embryological methodologies and devices: blastocyst cryopreservation, assisted fertilization, assisted hatching, preimplantation genetic testing, ooplasmic donation, single sperm freezing, CODA filtration, Global media, and GPS dishes. He currently serves on Advisory Boards of biotech startups TMRW, Kindbody, DADI and Phosphorus.
